The Man, His Wife and His Kids : Parenting
At the sound of his car making it's way into the compound, her heart begins to breathe heavily. Fear grips her. She's scared! The kids cower, run to their rooms. "Daddy is back home" ,the youngest child whispers slowly. They all pretend to be asleep . Not again. His presence has something ominous, translating to many untold unbearable situations. They could bediscipline for even saying "welcome home" . Many pressing issues in her heart. She wants to talk to him about his kids, the family, her love language, dreams, vision. But first she has to pray and pray. At last when she summons courage to say so, she discovers her mouth just refuses to open up. Why is she so scared of him! She hits herself. Marriage wasn't meant to be like this. Opposite her house is a lovely couple, she admires them from afar. Wishes her marriage is like theirs.
This and many more are stories I hear everyday in the Estate. The women even in their own homes live in fear. Why marry someone you cannot talk to? Why marry someone you need hours of prayers, to psyche yourself up to talk to.
Dear men, you cannot be a lion who roars at home and causes fear in the lives of those God has placed in your care. You are a husband, a protector, a shield against spiritual, social and physical forces that seeks to hurt those in your care . Don't leave them exposed ! Let them not find shelter ( coverage) emotionally elsewhere. Be loving, be kind, be courageous, be corrective and be corrected when you are being told to.
Be a father, be a Priest, be a King, be a Warrior fighting all these battles to make the family knit and bond together. You may be bruised, but let the scars be a message to them that they are worth fighting for. Be A Real Man.
